"Success isn't how far you got, but the distance you traveled from where you started."
A much better Greek proverb than the earlier English quote!
About a week ago, I had had a sudden panic attack while thinking about the Oxford trip because I realized I wasn't sure if I actually had an International Student Identity Card (ISIC). My friends who are studying in London this summer were told to buy one before they left.
My program had been much less clear about it and had asked us to turn in two passport photos. I had thought that those were to be used for the ISIC.
So I quickly emailed my professor to find out if I was mistaken.
Apparently I was. Oops.
He said that the photos were NOT for the ISIC card but that he might be able to use one for that purpose. He then told me to "leave it with him for a few days". HA.
Well, I am NOT content just sitting around not knowing what is going on. So I went online and searched for STA Travel locations. This is the cheap student travel agency which sells ISIC cards.
To my shock and amazement, they have a branch IN OXFORD.
That means that regardless of what happens, I can always buy one there. Phew.
I emailed my professor back to share the news with him. That way he can use my photos for their original intended purposes.
Thankfully, this is probably not the worst thing that has every happened on this program!! I mean, it hardly ranks on the same level as not having a passport or visa or something.
